Volunteer

Location: Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall (Armoury)

Volunteer Shift: Tuesday, 2:30 - 4:00pm (1.5 hrs)

Position Description: Under the direction of the site lead, this team sets up tables and chairs and otherwise prepares the space to serve dinner. Other tasks can include placing out table cloths, rolling cutlery, and arranging signage.

Physical or Other Requirements: Must be physically able to lift and move chairs and folding tables. Clean indoor closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift.

Location: Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall (Armoury)

Volunteer Shift: Tuesday, 6:30-7:30pm (1.0 hrs)

Position Description: Tables and chairs to be cleaned, folded up and returned to storage position as per site lead instruction. Gather up garbage and tidy space.

Physical or Other Requirements: Must be physically able to lift and move chairs and folding tables. Clean indoor closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift.

Location: Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall (Armoury)

Volunteer Shift: Tuesday, 3:30-5:30pm (2.0 hrs) AND/ OR 5:30-6:30pm (1.0 hrs)

Position Description: Serve food in a hygienic manner as directed by site lead and/ or head of dinner service. Aprons, gloves, and hairnets/ head coverings are provided.

Physical or Other Requirements: Must be physically able to lift and with enough dexterity to handle food trays, serving utensils, etc. Clean indoor closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift. Volunteers are required to wear a hairnet or similar head covering (e.g., chef's hat). Food handler's certificate an asset.

Location: Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall (Armoury)

Volunteer Shift: Tuesday, 3:30-5:30pm (2.0 hrs) AND/ OR 5:30-6:30pm (1.0 hrs)

Position Description: Tables are to be cleared of plates, cutlery, and cups after each diner has left their chair (do not rush them), all compostable items placed in green bins, all garbage in garbage cans and chairs pushed in. Our table busers can also assist diners to their seats (e.g., by helping to carry plates of food or drinks). Aprons and gloves are provided.

Physical or Other Requirements: Must be physically able to lift and with enough dexterity to handle plates, cutlery, cups, etc. Clean indoor closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift.

Location: Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall (Armoury)

Volunteer Shift: Tuesday, 3:30-5:30pm (2.0 hrs) AND/ OR 5:30-6:30pm (1.0 hrs)

Position Description: The Welcome Team is responsible for greeting guests as they enter the space, communicating necessary information (as provided by the site lead), providing directions, and recording the number of visitors. Chairs can be provided for individuals who are unable to stand for the duration of their shift. If necessary, a greeter will escort or indicate to people waiting to be seated when a table becomes available. Adult and children/ youth over the age of 12 years are welcome to volunteer in this role. 

Physical or Other Requirements: Frequent verbal communication in English - volunteers in this role must be comfortable greeting and communicating with strangers. Clean indoor closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift. Ability to communicate in French or other languages are an asset, but not required.

Location: Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall (Armoury) AND St. John's United Church

Volunteer Shift: Tuesday, 3:30-4:30pm (1.0 hrs) AND/ OR 6:30-7:30pm (1.0 hrs)

Position Description: Transport prepared food from church to the Armoury and/ or return empty/ used dishware to the church. Ensure food is transported according to safe food handling standards, as provided by the site lead.

Physical or Other Requirements: Volunteers for this team must have a valid G class license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the volunteer shift. Proof of vehicle insurance must be provided to NGCMA Volunteer Coordinator. Must be able to lift, carry, load, and unload containers of food up to 11.34 kg (25 lbs). Closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift.

Location: St. John's United Church, Kemptville

Volunteer Shift: Sundays from 12-4pm (4.0 hrs) ; however, this schedule can occasionally change (times will be confirmed with volunteers in advance).

Position Description: Assists site lead/ head cook with preparation of meals. Able to follow instructions from site lead while preparing food following the food handlers rules. Assisting with kitchen cleanup after cooking is finished, including operating a commercial dishwasher.

Physical or Other Requirements: Sufficient ability and manual dexterity to use kitchen tools, including knives, and safely lift and move commercial kitchen cookware (heavy pots, cooking sheets, etc.), including containers of food up to 11.34 kg (25 lbs). Clean indoor closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift. Food Handler or similar certificate is an asset, but not required. Experience in a commercial kitchen is an asset and preference is given to individuals with previous experience in food service.

Location: St. John's United Church, Kemptville

Volunteer Shift: Tuesday, 1:30-4:00pm (2.5 hrs)

Position Description: Assists site lead/ head cook with heating up pre-cooked meals and preparation of sides (e.g., salads). Able to follow instructions from site lead while preparing food following the food handlers rules. Assisting with kitchen cleanup after cooking is finished, including operating a commercial dishwasher.

Physical or Other Requirements: Sufficient ability and manual dexterity to use kitchen tools, including knives, and safely lift and move commercial kitchen cookware (heavy pots, cooking sheets, etc.), including containers of food up to 11.34 kg (25 lbs). Clean indoor closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift. Food Handler or similar certificate is an asset, but not required. Experience in a commercial kitchen is an asset and preference is given to individuals with previous experience in food service.

Location: St. John's United Church

Volunteer Shift: Tuesday, 6:30-8:30pm (2.0 hrs)

Position Description: Assisting with cleanup of serving dishes and other items used in meal service, including operating a commercial dishwasher. Ensure all equipment and the kitchen are left as clean as when we arrived. Gather up garbage and tidy space.

Physical or Other Requirements: Sufficient ability and manual dexterity to use kitchen tools, including knives, and safely lift and move commercial kitchen cookware (heavy pots, cooking sheets, etc.). Clean indoor closed toe shoes must be worn during volunteer shift.
